🎢 UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT – My Absolute Happy Place

The Universal Orlando Resort is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the USA. With three theme parks, one water park, eleven resort hotels, and Universal CityWalk with a variety of dining and entertainment options, there’s something for everyone here in Orlando in sunny Florida.
More than 20 million visitors from around the world come to Universal Studios Orlando every year to have a great time with friends and family. In the theme parks Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and the new Epic Universe, there are many incomparable rides, breathtaking roller coasters, exciting 4D attractions, and fascinating shows and experiences.

Universal Studios has been my happy place for many years. I love these theme parks and have spent a lot of time here. Fortunately, my wife Jasmina is almost as enthusiastic about Universal Orlando as I am, so we’ve been annual pass holders for several years and fly to Florida more often to have fun here.
🔥 William’s Exclusive Universal Secrets:
The Red Phone Booth Secret: In Diagon Alley, you can dial “MAGIC” (62442) at the red London phone booth and listen to messages from the Ministry of Magic. Very few visitors know this!
Hidden Interactive Spots: Your interactive wand works at over 30 hidden locations in both parks. Look for the bronze medallions on the ground – they show you the secret magic spots.
The Secret Pumpkin Fizz: At the Three Broomsticks, you can order a drink that’s not on the menu: the Pumpkin Fizz. Just ask – the staff knows it!

Express Pass Secret Tip: Hotels like Hard Rock, Portofino Bay, and Royal Pacific offer free unlimited Express Pass for ALL guests – even on check-in and check-out day! This can save you several hundred dollars.
Thunder Falls Terrace Secret Tip: This hidden restaurant at Islands of Adventure not only offers unique dishes but also window views of the Jurassic Park River Adventure splashdown. Most people walk right past it!

I actually have a complete guide with the 10 best tips for Universal Studios on my channel and lots more info on my blog – definitely check it out if you want to get the most out of your visit! You’ll find the link in the video description.
The new Epic Universe Park is truly spectacular! With its different worlds like Super Nintendo World and How to Train Your Dragon, Universal is setting new standards. But there will be a detailed video about that soon!
Between the parks lies CityWalk – Orlando’s entertainment district par excellence. Life pulsates here late into the night with restaurants, bars, clubs, and live music. After an exciting day in the parks, this is the perfect place to end the evening. And from 6 PM, parking in the Universal parking garages is free.

🐋 BLUE SPRINGS STATE PARK – Florida’s Manatee Paradise
Just 45 minutes north of Orlando lies Blue Springs State Park – a true natural paradise that many tourists overlook. What’s special here is the crystal-clear spring water that’s constantly 72°F and glows in an incredible turquoise blue. In winter, the park becomes a very special scene: Between November and March, hundreds of manatees come to the warm springs. During our last visit, there were over 300 animals – we’ll never forget that!
🌊 William’s Blue Springs Insider Tips:
Perfect Timing: William recommends arriving at 7:00 AM; the park opens at 8:00 AM. On weekends, it’s often full by 9:00 AM! The park has a capacity of only 280 vehicles.
Manatee Season Secrets: From mid-November to March, when water temperature drops below 68°F, hundreds of manatees come to the warm springs. In 2023, a record 729 animals were counted!

Secret Viewpoints: Instead of just staying on the main boardwalk, take the Pine Island Trail (4.3-mile hiking trail). There you’ll find additional observation points with far fewer people. The historic Thursby House offers an elevated viewpoint of the spring – overlooked by most!

In summer, when the water in the St. Johns River is warm enough, the manatees leave the spring – but then you can swim and snorkel here. The park is worthwhile year-round: you can explore typical Florida nature on beautiful hiking trails or canoe on the St. Johns River. The two-hour boat tour on the St. Johns River is especially recommended – the journey through pristine nature is truly beautiful!

🛍️ DISNEY SPRINGS – Free Disney Experience
After so much nature, it’s time for some shopping and entertainment! Disney Springs offers over 100 shops and restaurants – and the best part: admission and parking are completely free!

The World of Disney Store is the world’s largest Disney shop and an absolute must for all Disney fans. From personalized Mickey ears to exclusive collectibles to complete gear for your next Disney vacation, you’ll find absolutely everything here.

At the LEGO Store, impressive sculptures await you – the giant dragon and lifelike figures in front of the store are popular photo opportunities. At night, the scenery becomes especially spectacular when everything is illuminated.

💰 William’s Disney Springs Money-Saving Secrets:
Free Entertainment: Street performers perform daily on various stages. At Arribas Brothers you can watch glassblowing for free, and at Ghirardelli there are free chocolate samples!

Hidden Splash Pad: At Once Upon a Toy, there’s a small water playground for kids hidden away – completely free!
Marketplace Co-Op Secret: This shop houses several smaller vendors with unique Disney items you won’t find anywhere else. At Luxury of Time, you get a free commemorative chain if you read the slogan from the Disney Springs map!
Other highlights include the rooftop bar of the Coca-Cola Store with fantastic views, the erupting volcano at Rainforest Cafe, and the Aerophile Balloon that hovers 400 feet above the lake. A crazy experience are the Amphicars – real cars that drive right into the lake!

My secret tip: From the parking garage rooftops, you can see Disney fireworks for free – best around 9 PM!

🏊♂️ ROCK SPRINGS / KELLY PARK – Florida’s Natural Lazy River
Now I’m taking you to a place with two secret kayak routes that only locals know… Kelly Park with Rock Springs, about 30 minutes north of Orlando.
Nature has created its own lazy river here! The crystal-clear spring water flows gently through the park, and you can simply float along with a swim tube. The water is so clear you can see all the way to the bottom… and at a constant 72°F, it’s perfect for refreshment on hot Florida days.

🚣♀️ William’s Kelly Park Insider Secrets:
Coming Early is Everything: Arrival at 7:30 AM is essential! The park reaches its capacity of 280 vehicles often by 8:30 AM on summer weekends. Then it closes and you’re stuck at locked gates.
The Perfect Tubing Route: The 0.75-mile route takes 25-30 minutes per round. The water has a constant 68-72°F – pleasant even in winter!
The cheeky squirrels on the wooden deck by the kiosk are real entertainers! They skillfully beg for food and have no fear of humans. But please don’t feed them, no matter how cute they look!
The swimming area is ideal for families, and on the surrounding meadows you can wonderfully picnic and enjoy the Florida sun. What many don’t know: The springs in Florida close as soon as maximum visitor numbers are reached – so come early during high season and avoid weekends!
The Two Secret Kayak Routes: At King’s Landing you can rent kayaks for $49 – left goes to wild Florida nature, right to the famous Emerald Cut with crystal-clear water! Four hours to explore both routes. Online booking is strongly recommended as kayaks rent out quickly!
🛒 BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING – Orlando Goes Crazy!
If you’re in Orlando at the end of November, you’ll witness shopping madness… Black Week and Black Friday! Americans take Black Week and Black Friday very seriously! Orlando is no exception. The outlets and malls sometimes open at midnight… and the lines in front of stores are legendary!
But the discounts are worth it – massive percentages off already reduced prices! My favorite is Orlando International Premium Outlets! More than 180 stores and the outlet opens at 5 AM. Little tip: Park at the back of the complex and come early!
💸 William’s Black Friday Strategies:
Disney Character Warehouse Secret: At both Premium Outlet locations (International Drive and Vineland) you’ll find Disney merchandise with 50-80% off! The Vineland location uses a virtual queue system – register on-site and get an SMS with your return time.
VIP Shopper Club: Free membership at premiumoutlets.com/vip gives you 15-30% additional discounts on Black Friday. These are discounts on already reduced prices!
But be warned: It gets crazy! I’ve seen people camp out here overnight… just to get the best deal!
🏰 WALT DISNEY WORLD – The Ultimate Magic
Of course, in an Orlando video, Walt Disney World can’t be missing – the place where dreams come true! With four theme parks, two water parks, and Disney Springs, it’s the world’s largest and most visited vacation resort.

Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom – each park is its own world full of magic and adventure. But Walt Disney World is so comprehensive that it deserves its own video.

✨ William’s Disney World Insider Strategies:
Secret Animal Kingdom Entrance: Go through the Rainforest Cafe – often shorter wait times than the main entrance!
Lightning Lane Secrets: Resort guests can book 7 days in advance, others only 3 days. Prices vary daily: Multi-Pass $15-39, Single Pass $13-25, Premier Pass $119-449 per person/day.
Free Ice Water: At all Quick-Service locations there’s free ice water – saves you $3-4 per bottle!
🦅 LAKE APOPKA WILDLIFE DRIVE – Florida’s Best-Kept Secret
Now comes something that even many locals don’t know… The Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive! Imagine you get out of the car and a 10-foot alligator is lying no more than six feet away from you… That happened to us here! More about that soon!
Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive is located about 30 minutes north of Orlando. This 11-mile, single-lane gravel road is the only public wildlife drive in Central Florida… and leads you through different habitats where you can experience Florida’s wildlife up close!
But here’s the crazy thing: Lake Apopka was once one of Florida’s most polluted lakes… today it’s a conservation success! Until 1996, this was intensively farmed land – today more bird species live here than in Everglades National Park!
🐊 William’s Wildlife Drive Secrets:
Remember Opening Hours: Only Friday-Sunday and holidays from 7:00 AM-3:00 PM (exit until 5:00 PM). Many drive there for nothing because they don’t know this!
Alligator Guarantee: The best time for alligator watching is 7:00-9:00 AM when they’re sunbathing. William regularly sees 30-60 alligators per drive – more than in Everglades National Park!

377 bird species have been registered here – more than in the famous Everglades National Park! In 1998, this place even set the US inland record for most bird sightings in one day!
During our last visit, we not only saw many bird species… but also incredibly many alligators! I had no idea there would be so many! Bald eagles circle above you, and with some luck you might even see bobcats or wild boars!

But be careful: Alligators often sun themselves right on the track! These majestic animals deserve our respect. So really watch where you step and get out of the car! It’s their home, and we’re just guests.
The drive is completely free… but only open Friday through Sunday from 7 AM to 3 PM, exit until 5 PM! Maximum 10 mph speed limit – so you have time to see everything!
And here’s an insider tip: There’s a very good free official audio tour that tells you interesting facts about each point! You’ll find the link in the video description!
The best time is early morning or late afternoon – that’s when the animals are most active! Since opening in 2015, over 2 million guests have visited this place!
🚀 KENNEDY SPACE CENTER – Where History Was Made
Before we head to one of the most magical places in Orlando, we’re making a stop you’ll never forget. About an hour east of Orlando lies a place where history was made. Here begins America’s journey to the stars – welcome to the Kennedy Space Center.

As soon as you enter the Rocket Garden, you feel how big space travel really is. You’re standing under real rockets that once thundered through the atmosphere. The Saturn IB – once part of the Apollo program – towers above you as if it might take off any moment.
And then comes the moment that leaves everyone speechless: Space Shuttle Atlantis. It floats – original, authentic, imposing. Right in front of you. So close you could almost touch the heat shield.

🛰️ William’s Kennedy Space Center Secrets:
Free Rocket Launch Spots: Playalinda Beach (3.6 miles from Pad 39A – closest free point), Space View Park in Titusville (12 miles away with NASA audio feed), and Jetty Park ($15 entry, ideal for Falcon 9 landings).
Hidden Moon Tree Garden: These trees from seeds that orbited the moon are overlooked by 90% of visitors. They stand hidden next to the Rocket Garden.
Chat with an Astronaut: The 60-minute add-on is worth your money! You can meet real astronauts and ask questions – often ones who just returned from the ISS.
You see the legendary Vehicle Assembly Building – one of the world’s largest buildings. Here the giants that reached the moon were built. And in the middle: The original Saturn V command module. It was really in space. And it’s back.
And if you come at the right time, you experience the unbelievable live: A real rocket launch. The crowd counts down. All eyes to the sky. Then: a blazing light. A rumble in your chest. And a moment you’ll never forget.
🔭 Tip: Definitely check the official launch calendar beforehand. You don’t want to miss this chance.

Come with me now and discover my personal top attractions and tips and tricks along the famous International Drive in Orlando that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! We begin in the north with the largest outlet in Orlando – and a Disney secret that almost nobody knows – and continue our journey along the I-Drive to World Center Drive in the south.
🛒 International Premium Outlets – Shopping Paradise

Way up north, where International Drive begins, you’ll find an absolute must for all shopping enthusiasts in Orlando: the International Premium Outlets! Here you’ll find an impressive selection with over 180 stores from top brands like Nike, Coach, Michael Kors, and Tommy Hilfiger – and some of the stores are simply huge!

But the real treasures here are the incredible discounts: With up to 65% off regular retail prices, you can snag brand merchandise at unbeatable prices. It’s really amazing what great deals you can make here! I’m absolutely not a shopping fan, but here I never leave without fully loaded shopping bags.
Disney Character Warehouse Secret: In store 3E11C you’ll find Disney items with 50-80% off! Ask behind the counter for expensive items like Dooney & Bourke bags – often under $150 instead of $300+ in the parks.
Many tourists even buy an inexpensive suitcase here, which they then fill with all their newly acquired clothes. The International Premium Outlets are therefore not only a source for great bargains, but also an ideal opportunity to stock up your wardrobe.

🎮 Dezerland – Crazy Indoor Entertainment
Looking for exciting indoor entertainment in Orlando? Then Dezerland is the perfect place for you! This huge indoor park surprises with a variety of activities – from arcade games to bowling to go-karts.

If you’re into four wheels, Dezerland’s car museum will make your heart beat faster! Prepare yourself for the largest collection of cars in all of Florida – and yes, you heard right: The world’s longest car stands here gleaming and majestic! And by the way, fully roadworthy – for select events it’s actually driven out of here.
And imagine: You’re standing in Dezerland’s car museum next to the famous Ford Anglia, still admired today, see Marilyn Monroe’s legendary car, nearby you also see Bugs Bunny’s quirky vehicle and can even admire Fred Flintstone’s car!

The offering is complemented by a mega cinema, a huge arcade, a beautiful bowling alley, and many restaurants. And in Dezerland you’ll find much more entertainment: Check out the original tank from the James Bond film “GoldenEye” and feel like a real agent! Let your inner Viking loose with axe throwing and don’t forget the paintball arena to show everyone who the real boss is!
🎁 Shuttle Gift Shop – Cult and Souvenirs
The somewhat quirky gift shops in Orlando are simply cult and you should definitely check out one or two of them during your stay here! One of the most famous shops is the Shuttle Gift Shop on International Drive. The facade of the store is entirely dedicated to the NASA theme and is adorned with a giant Space Shuttle.

The selection inside the store is huge and offers almost everything your heart desires. In the Shuttle Gift Shop you’ll find a large selection of official Disney merch like personalized Mickey Mouse ears and mugs with Disney themes. Of course, there are also souvenirs from Orlando like t-shirts with prints of attractions and magnets that reflect the city’s flair.
I personally love bringing mugs from my vacations so I can have some nice memories while drinking my morning coffee. My kitchen cabinet is full of them!
🍭 Sugar Planet – Candy Paradise
Not in any travel guide, but a must for us when visiting International Drive in Orlando: Sugar Planet’s huge sweet shop left us speechless! We’ve never seen so many candies in one place. So anyone who loves sweets should definitely make a quick detour here and buy something or just admire the shop.

Sugar Planet is a real insider tip for all sweet tooths and sugar fans! The colorful and flashy store is a true sugar paradise and offers a huge selection of delicious, unusual, and crazy sweets. Besides sweets, Sugar Planet also offers a selection of gift items and accessories. A visit is definitely worthwhile to treat yourself or your loved ones to something sweet!
