A lazy river is a calm and pleasant place to relax and enjoy the day. You can drift along on float tubes while experiencing the scenery and surroundings of the park.

Directions and parking
Getting to Universal’s Volcano Bay is very simple and straightforward. Two huge Universal parking garages, which are also perfectly organized, make parking easy. However, it is expensive by European standards. Standard parking costs between 25 and 30 dollars a day, depending on the season and day. Prime parking, i.e. a little closer to the entrance, costs between 40 and 50 dollars.
Many hotels in Orlando near Universal offer their guests free shuttle buses that run regularly to the water park. This is another way to get to the park.
Although many budget travelers are excited about the shuttle buses, here is my opinion. Although free shuttle buses are an inexpensive form of transportation to Universal’s Volcano Bay, visitors should keep in mind that they often stop at several hotels on their way to the park, which greatly increases the travel time. The stops at the hotels are often 5 to 10 minutes.
In addition, the travel times to and from the park are very limited (at our hotels it was usually 1 to 3 trips there and back, which may not be ideal for all visitors.
The shuttle bus was never really an option for us. It’s just too long and I want to get there and back when I want. That’s why we almost always drove the car and just paid for the parking lot. To be honest, on a Florida vacation with theme parks, the few euros don’t really matter anymore. But that’s just my opinion.
Another option for getting to Universal’s Volcano Bay is to use cabs or transportation services such as Uber or Lyft. Cabs usually have a fixed price for a ride to the water park. However, it’s worth asking about prices beforehand and comparing different providers if necessary to get the best deal.
Walking?
In fact, you do occasionally see visitors walking to the park. Many check the distance from the hotel on Google Maps before their vacation and then walk. It’s cheap, but only recommended for the very hardy.
Walking from the hotel is exhausting at the end of a long visit to the park. I can tell you that from experience. We did it once at the beginning, but then never again.
In addition, hotels that are close to the park are often more expensive than hotels that are further away. In many cases, it could therefore be cheaper to park the car and pay the parking fee of 25 dollars instead of staying in a more expensive hotel nearby.
Universal’s Volcano Bay Park Map
The park map of Universal’s Volcano Bay is a useful tool for visitors to find their way around the water park. The map shows all the attractions, slides, pools and restaurants in the park. The map also provides information on the location of the changing rooms, toilets and lockers.
A printed park map can be obtained at the entrance to the water park or downloaded in advance from the official website (or here). It is advisable to take a look at the map before visiting the park in order to get an overview of the park and to head for the desired attractions.

It’s better to use the Universal app with the park map. That’s my opinion, and you hardly ever see people with a printed map either.

The map is also interactive and shows you the quickest route to your desired destination in the park. This saves you time and ensures you don’t miss any of the exciting attractions.

My opinion and experiences at Volcano Bay
Personally, I think Universal’s Volcano Bay is the best water park in Orlando. The attractions are simply amazing and the volcano that dominates the park is gigantically impressive. It’s almost like swimming in front of a real volcano.
The pool areas are also beautiful and a great way to relax and soak up the sun. I especially love the lazy rivers, which are perfect for just chilling out on extremely warm Florida days.
Overall, we had a great experience during our visits to Universal’s Volcano Bay and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing yet exciting activity to escape the Florida heat. The combination of thrilling water slides, attractions and relaxing pool areas make this water park an unforgettable experience.
